Jack Schramm worked as superintendent of payroll with the Detroit Department of Street Railways (DSR) before his retirement. In 1976 he teamed up with Bill Henning, a professor at Macomb County Community College, and the two of them put together their first book, Detroit: Its Trolleys and Interurbans.
